The next day

Something very important is around the corner. You can feel it. It is visible in every store or street corner. You can hear it in the air, if you listen close enough.

However, I'm afraid we are going to miss it. You won't find this special gift in a present wrapped in glittery paper. It is not available at the mall and you can't bid on it using ebay. It is not found in the midst of cable Christmas special. Decorations simply distract us from focusing our eyes. Comfort food slows us down and fancy lights blind us from looking in the right direction. We get so busy that we soon forget what we are looking for and are content with just going with the norm of culture.

I encourage you to slow down, to stop. Turn off the lights. Stop eating and turn the football game off.

The next day is almost upon us and there is not a moment to lose in pursuing what matters the most. The anniversary of God's provision of mercy, grace and truth arrives tomorrow. We were too busy to notice 2000 years ago; will we be too busy too notice tomorrow?

Family time in Nebraska

Thanks to Delta airlines, I was able to get back home to Nebraska to visit for the Christmas holidays . . . . but this visit was unlike any other. On this visit, Carrisa, my fiance returned to Nebraska with me to meet my "Nebraska family".

She had been able to meet my Dad and his wife Judy back in August, but this was her first time to Nebraska to meet my Mom, Grandmother, sisters and friends.

We had a great time. We also were able to watch my little sister, Sarah, watch across the stage at the University of Nebraska, Kearney, receiving her diploma. She graduated with a business degree and is very excited to be done.

But wow, it was cold! I have completely forgot how cold it can be in Nebraska with the wind chill. But we survived!

Enjoy the pictures above!
